The Fortnightly: January 31st through February 14th
January 31, 2011
There’s a lot of music in this town and while we can’t catch all of it, we certainly try. The Fortnightly is a new, biweekly feature here on IWTAS in which we will keep a list of the shows we’re planning to attend with a little something extra on a show we’re particularly excited about, depending on the author of the post. Welcome to The Fortnightly!
2/2 Patti Smith Reading @ The Royale
2/3 Humdrum CD Release Party with The Skekses, The Mhurs, and Lantern Lights @ Off Broadway
2/5 Old Lights, The Saps, Kentucky Knife Fight @ Off Broadway
2/8 Tokyo Police Club with Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin @ The Firebird
2/10 Patrick Sweany CD Release Party with Cassie Morgan and the Lonely Pine and Benjamin Riley Band @ Off Broadway
2/12 The Dive Poets, Blood Pony & Bo and the Locomotive @ The Pageant
2/13 5 Score Pachyderm Presents: Jeremiah Nelson with Beth Bombara, The Warbuckles, Dots Not Feathers @ Old Rock House
Of all those listed, the one I’m looking forward to the most is the last show. Our buddies over at 5 Score Pachyderm have put together a fantastic lineup for the 2/13 Sunday show at Old Rock House. The Warbuckles and Dots Not Feathers are both relatively new bands that are showing a lot of promise. Since making their debut at the Dogtown Street Musician Festival, The Warbuckles have played a few shows and even recorded a track for the STL Loud compilation. It’ll be my first time seeing Dots Not Feathers and to be honest, I don’t know too much about them, but everything I’ve heard is fantastic and I always look forward to hearing new St. Louis-made music. You know Beth Bombara and Jeremiah Nelson never disappoint, so really, you can’t lose with this one. Sunday shows are hard because of Monday mornings, but I think you’ll be pleased with the decision to forgo a lazy night in your Snuggie and catch some great music instead!

I mean, I think I might wear my Snuggie to the concert.
