Ticket Giveaway: Samantha Crain at The Gramophone
June 20, 2011
[show_avatar email=jess@iwenttoashow.com align=left avatar_size=62] Pocket-sized, Oklahoman troubadour Samantha Crain is riding through town tomorrow to play a late show at The Gramophone (10pm with doors at 8:30). A pal and tour buddy of St. Louis favorite Langhorne Slim, former bandmate of Beth Bombara and Josh Timbrook, and two-time Daytrotter veteran, Crain has graced us with her presence anywhere from delightfully dingy Lemmon’s to a packed room at Off Broadway.
In May of 2010, Crain stopped by KDHX and played a delicate version of ‘We Are The Same’, wherein she croons, “I would never take from you / without giving back / I would never steal from you / I think you’ve had enough of that”. Don’t mistake her ability to play gently for weakness though. Girl is clever and charming on stage, and a commanding guitarist in her own right.
We love the Gramophone for its comfortable couches and tasty drinks and friendly bouncers. Sam and her band will be the perfect soundtrack for a steamy St. Louis Tuesday night. If you’d like to go for free, leave us a comment by 3pm tomorrow for a chance to win a pair of tickets.
