Ticket Giveaway: Langhorne Slim w/ John Henry + the Engine at Off Broadway
August 23, 2011
Tonight, the [pork]pied piper of Portland returns to Off Broadway for a night of raucous, sweat-soaked, genre-bending songs. Langhorne Slim seems to have a soft spot in his heart for the folks and fans of St. Louis, and with good reason. Having visited several times in the last few years, Sean Scolnick, aka Slim, writes songs that feel accessible and homegrown; we like that around here.
“We’ve played with Langhorne in the past, at Off Broadway about a year and a half ago. It was a fun show!” says John Henry, of John Henry and the Engine, who open for LS tonight at OB, as well as in Chicago and Indianapolis on Thursday and Friday.
“He and the band were incredibly sweet. What stuck with me was how hard he worked during the set. Langhorne worked his ass off; you believed every word he said. We cannot wait for this run of shows with him.”
Henry and the boys offered IWTAS readers a pair of tickets to tonight’s show. Simply leave a comment below, RT us on Twitter, or say something to us on our Facebook page. The contest closes at 3pm today and the winner will be selected at random. Good luck!

He writes some great tunes. Were I not so financially disposed, I’d simply have bought my tickets…sadly, this is my only shot.
Me me me, please. If not I hope to see you all soon and I look forward to seeing your pics!
I’ve been meaning to make it out to see him. Spent all my cash on an amp a couple days ago though!
Langhorne Slim is one of my very favorite songwriters, and has really inspired me in my own writing. I would love to get to come to this show, it would really make my whole week.
