Ticket Giveaway: The Mynabirds at The Firebird!
June 28, 2012
I was trying to come up with some “Put a bird on it” pun related to the MynaBIRDs playing at The FireBIRD on July 1st, but I’ll spare you all for the time being and cut to the “free stuff” chase.
You know Laura Burhenn’s Mynabirds from one of my favorite-ly (not a word) titled songs, “What We Gained in the Fire” off 2010’s lauded What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood. Burhenn is back this year with a politically-charged, totally-worth-digging-into sophomore LP, GENERALS, behind which she’s currently touring.
Leave us a comment below for a chance for you and a pal to check out Mynabirds for free this Sunday in St. Louis, but act fast – the contest closes at 10am tomorrow. Don’t forget to include a valid email.
NOTES and BONUSES:
Speakers in Code did a nice interview with Burhenn recently. Do check it out.
Opening for Mynabirds is new-to-me STL band Arthur and the Librarian. I’m listening to their album on Bandcamp right now, and I dig them so far. Show up early enough to check ’em out – then you’ll get to be that annoying kid in your group of friends who discovered a new band first and subtly brags about it.

Baby if you wanna be right, I will let you be right (if you give me 2 free tickets to mynrabirds!)
Those pelt-hats will be available at the merch table, yes?
Just listened to them on Spotify yesterday. Could be a good show.
Yo, dawg. I heard you like birds so I put a Mynabirds in your Firebird so you can Bird while you Bird.
I thought we were supposed to move on from birds to pickling things now?
Man she is a turbo-babe
I love birds and librarians. This is the show for me. I’ll bring feathers and reading glasses for everyone!
