This Tuesday, poet, rapper, writer, and vocalist Dessa will again perform at the Firebird, and again we’ll all be better off for it.

Following her 2005 debut EP, the Doomtree hip hop collective member now has three full–length solo albums under her belt. Dessa’s currently touring behind Parts of Speech, her arresting, highly lucid, and largely self-biographical record released this year. She spoke at length about Parts of Speech with The Rumpus; educate yourself here. The two singles off the album thus far, Call Off Your Ghost and Skeleton Key, sandwich a lyrically vicious track called Warsaw that I haven’t been able to turn off each day on the way home from work. Hearing just that song performed live would be worth the admission price to the show. But don’t take it from me:
