STL LOUD Gets Official

Lately you may have seen the term STL LOUD tossed around in the St. Louis music Twitter circles or you might have overheard one bearded man talking to other bearded men about this STL LOUD last weekend at the Under Cover Weekend shows.  Well, that bearded man is Ryan Albritton of R&R Music Labs and today he has released the first public news on what exactly STL LOUD is and will be.

We’re excited to be involved with the project and we’re looking forward to working with not only R&R Music Labs, but also Speakers in Code, 5 Score Pachyderm, AtoZ, the local St. Louis venues, and obviously the bands themselves.  Together, we’ll all be posting news and updates on what’s to come, so keep your eyes peeled!

And now, the details…

STL LOUD is the latest in a line of projects here in St. Louis aiming to celebrate our great city.  Specifically, this celebration will be in the spirit of all that is Loud in the Lou…music-wise, anyway.  Imagine all of your favorite local bands performing something previously unrecorded, compiled as one super-volume of local  music delight.  Well, you’re in luck because that’s what STL LOUD is going to do.  However, since there are limits to traditional CD technology, which are far exceeded by the music being made in the gateway city, one volume is not going to cut it.
Welcome to the STL LOUD EP Project.  More of any good thing is always better, so instead of one CD, let’s do a series of EPs as an ongoing tribute to St. Louis and all of the great music held herein.  We will be recording a couple bands every month for this project, which should keep us on track for one release every three months.  Yes- new, original, previously-unreleased, local music every 3 months!! Excited?  …Not good enough?  Ok- how about this, each release will be accompanied by a showcase at some unnamed local venue featuring the five or six artists on the EP. So now, in addition to the new, original, previously-unreleased, local music every three months, we also get to go to a show, or more precisely, many shows!  This is starting to sound like a real celebration!
So, let’s make it even more fun.  Now that you know the premise, I’m going to let others fill in the details.  For the next several weeks, a new detail (band names, showtimes, venues, release date, …etc) will be released on various local music blogs until the puzzle is complete.  So keep your ears to the digital voice of music in STL and you’ll know all that is LOUD in the Lou!
