Ticket Giveaway: Lucero at Off Broadway!

[show_avatar email=jess@iwenttoashow.com align=left avatar_size=62] Last time punk-infused country rockers Lucero were in town, they labored through late-August St. Louis heat and humidity at LouFest, ending a cut-short set with singer/guitarist Ben Nichols flat out behind the drum kit receiving intravenous fluids from a nurse.

Lucero’s abbreviated performance this summer seemed to do nothing but make St. Louis anxious for the rousing, rough live show that long-time Lucero fans have come to expect. Next Tuesday, the band will descend upon Off Broadway for a concert that is likely to sell out, just like it did last time they played the venue. I’ve yet to see Lucero at OB, but I imagine that Nichols’ weathered growl will be especially affecting on a cold winter weeknight in that warm, friendly room.

Local favorites John Henry and the Engine are slated to open the evening, just days before heading to Nashville to do some recording (P.S. We’ll be giving away tickets to John’s December 10th  headlining show at Cicero’s – more on that later).

The folks at Off Broadway have been nice enough to offer up a pair of tickets to IWTAS readers. All you have to do to win is leave a comment below (with a valid email address). We’ll be on Facebook too, per usual. I’ll notify the winner on Thursday. We can’t WAIT to see you there :)

I had never heard much of Lucero’s music, although I had heard of the band, that was until the first annual LouFest in Forest Park this past August.
Apparently the lead singer was ill, and said he was vomitting the entire trip up from Arkansas, but he still managed to put on a hell of a concert. Perhaps it was the heat, or the Bud Light, or my own personal emotional distress with my significant other that day on the fields of LouFest, but when they played “Drink Til We’re Gone” that’s all I wanted to do – drink til I was gone.

Last time I saw the boys was in their home state of Tennessee. And I gotta say… Nashville kids ain’t worth a Red Piss. Buch of buch of tight pantsed hipster kids too worried about gettin’ good cell phone pics to drink a few too many beers and enjoy the damn show. It was an awful shame. they don’t give a damn about good Rock’n’Roll in the music city anymore.
