Ticket Giveaway! The Whigs w/ Company of Thieves at Off Broadway

Tomorrow, Off Broadway plays host to Athens-bred garage rockers The Whigs with special guests Company of Thieves. If you’re not familiar, the Whigs have been around the block (and ocean) and back, touring with the Black Keys, The Hold Steady, Tokyo Police Club, and many more. In February 2011, the trio hit the road with fellow Athenians Dead Confederate, a band that’s spent ample time in St. Louis over the past few years.

And the last time Chicago’s Company of Thieves blew through town, Genevieve Schatz’s Herculean voice stopped the Firebird crowd in its tracks. She banged a tambourine around like a mad woman and then leaned forward onstage to sing to one of her smiling fans (who also happened to be in the opening band) while Marc Walloch wailed away and gave all the guitar nerds in the room pedal board envy.

Listening to bands who put on excellent live shows is exactly how you need to spend your Wednesday evening. To that end, our friends at Off Broadway are offering up FOUR pairs of tickets to the concert. Leave a comment (and a decent email address) below for a shot. We’ll randomly select winners at 3pm tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

We’ll leave you with COT being grateful and adorable and acoustic (homegirl can sing):

Hey, only pick me if you can’t give away all your tickets to anyone else. I’m going to both the Firebird and The Pageant that night (I already got tickets before I saw this show was announced) but would love to catch whatever I can of The Whigs set. I wouldn’t want to take any tix away from more dedicated fans.

  2. Geoff says:

I would LOVE to go to this show. I saw Company Of Thieves at the Firebird last year and they were amazing. I would love to introduce 3 more friends to their music. I’ve never seen the Whigs, but I have caught them a few times on some late night shows as a musical guest, and they seem like a fantastic live band. Thanks so much for the opportunity to see the show.

  3. Geoff says:

Sorry, I should have said I would love to introduce 1 more friend to see Company Of Thieves- I see you are giving away 4 PAIRS of tickets, not 4 tickets. My bad!…… :-)

  4. Jay says:

I have not had a chance to buy tickets this week, but I would love to attend. Last time I saw y’all was Halloween @ The Pageant in St. Louis. Went to see OLP and came away with a new favorite band. Best dynamics I have heard in a group in a long time! All the best, and hopefully I can catch the Off Broadway set! All the best to y’all.

  5. Dang! I literally just bought tickets. But I guess I’ll go ahead and enter for the sake of friends who I’m sure would be appreciative of free tickets.

  6. Noah says:

I would LOVE a chance to win four free tickets! Company of Thieves are one of my favorite new bands, and The Whigs are great as well.

  7. Milton says:

I do not have enough testicles to offer up for this show, but I will throw in my vas deferens and one set of balls for tickets. I will be going either way; however with a free pair I can bring a companion to enjoy the festivities. The Whigs have rocked my face into submission the last three times I’ve seen them. And the fact that Company of Thieves are good company makes this even a more fantastic show.
    ~ Cheers.

A couple months ago, my brother asked me to go to this concert with him to see this band called Company of Thieves and I didn’t really want to go because I didn’t know anything about them. He told me he was sure I would like them and I ended up going because he bought my ticket. I’m glad he introduced me to them because they were fantastic, and now I want to see them again… tonight. This time, I’m trying to talk my friends into going like my brother talked me into going. They don’t suck.

  9. Mike says:

I think Milton’s comment is deserving of all four sets, but I’d like to throw my hat into the ring, and retain my vas deferens.
