We Heard White Castle Customers Really Enjoy Music…

We know this isn’t the typical material we cover here at IWTAS, but when White Castle reached out to us to invite us to their special blogger event, we knew we had to cover it. In their email to the team, they even went so far as to say “…but many White Castle customers really enjoy music”. Ok, White Castle, you got us. Please let it be known that no one here at IWTAS were paid for this. What we did get was bags of free giveaways and IWTAS contributor Corey Woodruff got a healthy and well balanced breakfast. So, what did Corey think? Read on.

The folks at White Castle recently invited IWTAS to a blogger event to introduce their breakfast menu, hosted by their corporate chef Phillip Bach.  At first, we were a little stumped by the invite since this is a music blog, but curiosity got the better of us and we figured that late night dining and attending concerts go hand-in-hand.  Since I’m the only contributor without a traditional day job (I’m so irresponsible), I was charged with finding out just what the hell this was all about.

Short answer:  The Castle has a new corporate (the aforementioned Phillip Bach) chef and he’s very interested in experimenting with how to combine the iconic slider with new tastes.  So he’s hit the road to talk to “real people”.  Or bloggers at least.  And while the army of corporate marketeers were keenly listening to our comments and glad-handing us with swag bags, I got the impression that the affable and enthusiastic Bach is serious about changing the way folks look at White Castle.  For God’s sake, the guy is trying to figure out how to work an ahi tuna wasabi slider into their menu!

In any case, their breakfast offerings are generally tasty and wholesome–especially the sandwiches.  Real eggs are cracked and fried on a griddle, alongside real bacon and real sausage.  Kudos to them for that.  They are also testing out 24-hour breakfast menus in Crestwood and Florissant, while elsewhere they offer The Most Important Meal Of The Day from midnight to 10:30 am.  Good to know.

Want some free stuff?  If you find yourself craving some Castle the next time you stumble out of your favorite music venue, you can get some free burgers on us.  Come find us at Off Broadway TONIGHT for The Dive Poets, Beth Bombara (rumors of a full band, btw) and the talented Oil Boom! We’ll let you grab some swag straight from the bag. Who will pick the car air freshener and who will pick the wrist band?
