[show_avatar email=jess@iwenttoashow.com align=left avatar_size=62] In 2004, I was a college sophomore, and someone put “The Best Happiness Money Can Buy” on a mixtape for me. Intrigued by this essentially one-man band with a long stage name and lots of feelings, I illegally downloaded (it was the times!) everything by I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s business that I could find…which turned out to be, like, five tracks. That handful of songs stuck around for awhile and then eventually slipped quietly into the deep, murky waters of my hard drive.

So when I saw the ICMAMLNB show announcement on Off Broadway’s site, I spent a few minutes with the Internet, and together we discovered just what Ace Enders has been doing since he emo-ed his way into my heart six years ago. Turns out, he’s been making and producing more than decent music under a few different group names. Released in early May, Enders’ latest album, Gold Rush, was recorded under the ICMAMLNB name and features the same smart, accessible indie rock that caught my ear at nineteen.

So ignore, or in my case, enjoy the fact that Ace Enders looks like Scott Pilgrim – I mean Michael Cera – in his FB profile pic. Ignore also the fact that a snippet of my favorite ICMAMLNB song was once featured in the trailer for the 2005 Lane-Cusack romcom Must Love Dogs (thanks for the shame, Wikipedia), and meet me at OB on a Tuesday night for some worthwhile songs by one talented dude and probably some of his friends.

Preview and/or buy ICMAMLNB’s Gold Rush on their Bandcamp site.

THE COOLEST THING ABOUT THIS THREE WEEK ICMAMLNB TOUR IS THAT IT’S “PICK WHAT YOU PAY”, which means you can choose increments between five and twenty-five dollars to get in. Those fans who purchase admission ahead of time on the band’s website (assuming the pre-sale isn’t sold out – St. Louis still has spots available), will receive a signed poster and a meet and greet with Enders. Go here now to buy tickets and for more information.
