The Dive Poets Release New Song in Celebration of Upcoming Cicero’s Show

A few minutes ago, our pals The Dive Poets placed in our hot little hands inbox a brand new song, recently recorded at Sawhorse Studios, which was incidentally named the best one in St. Louis according to The Riverfront Times. The track is a smooth, country-tinged swinger anchored by lead singer Eric Sargent’s deep, earnest voice. Have a listen below:

Even better than a brand new song is the fact that Dive Poets are opening for one of this author’s personal favorite bands of the last year, Futurebirds, on Wednesday, October 5th. The show’s at Cicero’s – a perfect fit for the tough-to-characterize Athens-based 6-piece whose sound alternates between country ballad and thrash folk and foot-stompin’ rock n roll at each song change. Futurebirds are an exciting, talented, and genuine young band, one that’s passed through St. Louis a couple times in recent years and deserves more recognition than they generally receive here.

Poster design by Karl Eggers.

Rounding out the Cicero’s bill is Thomas Hardy of Dead Confederate fame (I believe) and locals Royal Smokestacks, the newest venture of The Monads’ Pat Eagan and featuring the musically familiar faces of Kevin Kwater, Jason Adams, Ryan Humphrey, Brian Bauer, and Miles Long.

If you’re on the fence (and you shouldn’t be)…

Futurebirds have a Bandcamp.

The Dive Poets, too, have a Bandcamp.
