I have seen Jukebox the Ghost play St. Louis something like five times in the past 3 years. Their gift for chasing away misery is pretty much unparalleled. Their third studio album, Safe Travels, came out a few weeks ago, and it’s no less outstanding than their other two. We’re nearing the end of a crappy heat wave, a drought, and town officials cancelled most of our  fireworks displays due to unprecedented dangers of raging wildfires. Shit got pretty awful. But tomorrow night at The Firebird, Jukebox the Ghost WILL SHOOT ROMAN CANDLES OF UPBEAT PIANO POP DIRECTLY INTO YOUR FACE. Come to the ‘bird, get loud and dance stupid. Summer will be over soon, and we’ll need these memories to keep us warm all winter. Besides, watching a new listener’s face light up as they finally admit to themselves, “THESE GUYS ARE REALLY GREAT!”? Best feeling on earth. Don’t hold out on me!

Adulthood, by Jukebox the Ghost. From Safe Travels, Yep Roc Records.

HUGE BTDUBB, Now, Now is one of the opening bands, and they charmed the shoelaces off everyone at The Pageant for fun. last month. You do not want to miss these adorable Minnesotans play an intimate venue like The Firebird, do you? Of course you do not. See you there.
