TICKET GIVEAWAY: Black Moth Super Rainbow w/ The Hood Internet at The Firebird

You guys. This video is so weird and perfectly unsettling and kinda NSFW, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that Black Moth Super Rainbow‘s “Hairspray Heart” is the jaaaaaaaaaaaaaam for Summer 2013. Put it on your Spotify playlists and your Apple products; let it infect your ears and your barbecues and house parties.

In fact, play the entire 2012 album, Cobra Juicy, front to back wherever you can find a spot of sunshine and a bowl of…whatever you’re into.

COBRA JUICY.

COBRA JUICY.

And just when so many music lovers in our region begin to reassemble their backyard Wilco shrines and get set for another season of outdoor Americana worship, Pittsburgh’s wacky, enigmatic, and experimental Black Moth Super Rainbow will take the stage at Firebird this Wednesday with mix monsters The Hoot Internet and Chicago’s Oscillator Bug.

IWTAS is giving away a pair of tickets to this sick ass show because we believe in loud noises and dancing hard on weeknights. Leave us a comment below and tell us why you want to go. We’ll randomly select a winner on Wednesday morning.

I would absolutely love to go to this show. I have been listening to BMSR for about five years now. I have only been to one of their shows, and I’ve never had a better time. Their abilities to fully encapsulate an audience is amazing. If BMSR ever comes to the DC/Philly/NYC area again, I’ll find my way there. Too bad I can’t make it to this show :-(

Reasons I want to go [fo’ free]:
    – Can reallocate dollars I would have spent on tickets to alcohol and vinyl
    – Pretty confident the entire BMSR show, much like the vid, will be NSFW
    – Wednesday parties, amiright

But really, nice article; I liked it a whole lot.

Because this band has been blowing my mind over and over again since 2007. Amazingly unique, contemporary psychedelia. Huge fan.

The reason I want to go to this show:

    – I’ve been listening Black Moth Super Rainbow since 2004 and I haven’t had a chance to see them live.
    – I practically have every single albums they produced.
    – I absolutely love the new album, it sets on repeat in my iPod. When i’m at home or at work I start the day with this album,
    – Firebird is my favorite venue in St. Louis, I just love the close atmosphere between the bands/musicians and the fans. Got to meet in person so many great bands after shows at the Firebird.
    – I graduate this week from SLU, this would be a perfect graduation gift for me :)
    – And above all, i’m broke :( Needless to say the student loan is on its way!!

I want to go because I feel I am the most Cobra Juicy man around.

When I’m not going out with my friends being a “Windshield Smasher”, I tend to think I’m quite the well reserved man who enjoys dairy products. Some of the best are the ones that taste “Like A Sundae”, but I can’t eat them too fast because I get a “Hairspray Heart” like burn in my chest. It often makes my head feel dizzy like I’ve got some “Psychic Love Damage” going on but then I just remember it’s the dairy product inside my body telling me “We Burn”.

Afterwards, after realizing I have much still to do in the day I join my “Gangs in the Garden” who usually don’t have too much else going on. It’s like they’ve realized “The Healing Power of Nothing” and just sit around all day while I tend to my flowers. It’s crazy stuff man. Sometimes I don’t like to dwell on it very much cause “I Think I’m Evil” if I overanalyze everything. So then on these hot summer days, I leave the gang and go inside to get a “Dreamsicle Bomb” pop while I go enjoy the summer heat weather. I don’t want to eat it too fast cause I’m afraid of getting a brain freeze and it end up “Blurring My Day”…but I do it anyway and throw up the popsicle with a “Spraypaint” arrangement of colors….

aw man! everyone has such great reasons why they should win a free ticket. here are mine:
    looooove these tunes. so much.

wanna get down and groove and i haven’t been to a show at the firebird in way too long.

i am an americorps volunteer this year so while i grow veggies and teach kids about nutrition, i make pennies and can’t really afford to go to shows like this one. even a $5 discount would make my day.

  7. Johnathon B says:

I feel like I should get the tickets because I want to get down to some music, and I can’t do that if I can’t see BMSR, and I can’t afford to go since my money goes to things like insurance. If I got picked I’d be excited beyond belief, but whoever gets picked will have an incredible time, that’s for sure.

  8. Mark Lager says:

Because Black Moth Super Rainbow connects with me a new dimension of consciousness.

    :-)

  9. Sahab Bashir says:

I would love to go simply because there is nothing that makes me so nostalgic and connected like BMSR. I don’t know what kinda reasons you guys mean, but I guess selfish ones count! Haha, because this is my last week of high school and I am soooo done with this shit, stayed up all night writing my research paper which is due today (yay procrastinating!!) and would love nothing more than to chill out. Speaking of chills, nothing gives me more chills than Just for the Night remix, y’all fuckin nailed it. Either way….have a good time tonight guys, and visit STL again soon so I can forsure get tickets and come!!!!
