[CONTEST] Win tickets to TWANGFEST w/ Centro-matic, SSLYBY, Tristen & Beth Bombara!

Night 3 of Twangfest features a cavalcade of stars from the worlds of indie rock, synth pop, and Americana. (THIS IS GOING TO BE SUCH A GREAT SHOW, YOU GUYS.)

Leading the charge is St. Louis favorite Centro-matic (Denton, TX), 17+ year rock veterans whose latest new release, Take Pride in Your Long Odds, came out yesterday. It is loud and well-written and beautiful.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, indie pop princes of Springfield, MO, are also on the bill. [PERSONAL ANECDOTE ALERT] When it was still called Southwest Missouri State, a 17 year-old me ambled out of my little dorm room in Freddy at MSU and found an outdoor concert on campus. Some dudes with a silly band name were playing some seriously good tunes (even back then!), and those dudes were SSLYBY. Nine years later I stood in the photo pit at LouFest 2012 as a they played to a big, enthusiastic crowd who knew their songs and were singing and dancing along. Life is stupid/magical.

Providing further support is Nashville’s Tristen, who had a breakout year in 2013 with the release of C A V E S, her powerful sophomore album on PUPsnake Records.

The local element for Night 3 of Twangfest is Beth Bombara. If you don’t know about Beth and her band’s contributions to the STL music scene by now, you better ask somebody.

IWTAS has a pair of tickets to give away for Twangfest Night 3 at Off Broadway Friday, June 6th. It’s easy enough to enter the contest: just leave a comment below (and a valid email address) letting us know why you’d like to attend. We’ll choose a winner at random on Friday morning.  Good luck!

I saw Centro-matic in Denton maybe 8-9 years ago (around the time of Love You Just The Same, which the internet tells me came out 11 years ago — yikes). They were really good. It’s not often I can get my wife to go to shows with me (she had no interest in the Lawrence Arms last week) but I think I could talk her into going to TwangFest.

Excited to see Beth Bombara & Tristen play in front of a packed Twangfest audience

Also, Centro-matic’s new record is their best since Fort Recovery
