[PREVIEW] Sylvan Esso at The Luminary Center for the Arts – Wed, June 11th

Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso

It’s a dangerous thing, to refuse to rest on the laurels of an already successful musical project (or two), and start something untested and new. But Amelia Meath (Mountain Man) and Nick Sanborn (Megafaun) did just that, each forming one half of burgeoning melodic electronic project, Sylvan Esso. The band’s self-titled debut on Partisan Records is a an often bright, occasionally haunting tapestry of Meath’s ethereal singing voice woven in and out of Sanborn’s dance-able, sythpop beats.

Tonight, Sylvan Esso plays The Luminary Center for the Arts, which recently reopened following the purchase of a great building on Cherokee Street. Tickets are just $12 and should be available at the door. Speaking personally now: this is a Wednesday night concert risk I highly encourage you to take, even if you’ve never heard of these folks. Inventive FarFetched artist Thelonius Kryptonite provides support.
