[PREVIEW] Frontier Ruckus w/ Justin Kinkel-Schuster at Off Broadway: December 10th, 2014

Word weaver Matthew Milia and his Frontier Ruckus play Off Broadway tonight with former St. Louisan and lyrical ace in his own right, Justin Kinkel-Schuster (Water Liars). FR is touring behind their fourth full-length, Sitcom Afterlife, a richly imagined set of songs that revere the past but actively explore the present. The record is an exciting departure for a band that has traditionally relied on looking back.

I’m consistently impressed with the quantity and quality of Milia’s writing and banjoist David Jones’ precision. Therefore, I’ve put together a 10-song Frontier Ruckus primer just in case you aren’t familiar with the band and would like to be brave and take a chance on the show this evening:

Arrive on time for Justin (doors at 7, music at 8). I don’t know what’s in store for his set – Water Liars songs or solo work – but I know dude’s a sage and this little lineup is a treat. Tickets will be available at the door.
