[PHOTOS] The Devil Makes Three w/ Joe Pug – Thursday, 1/22/15

“It’s weird to see so many hippies at a concert where all the band sings about is drinkin’, fightin’, and fuckin’…”
— a Facebook friend, paraphrased, on the Devil Makes Three show at the Pageant.

The stupefying diversity of the crowd make-up (moms, dads, teens, bros, South-siders, county-dwellers, punks, whatever I am) was a real testament to DMT’s widespread appeal last Thursday. The Devil Makes Three plucked and powered its way through a well-received bluegrass set shocked to life by the band’s instrumental proficiency and fearless genre-blurring. Impeccable songwriter Joe Pug opened the show. No question, Pug is one of the very best modern folk artists working today. He’ll be gracing us with his presence again on April 7th at The Firebird, touring behind his impending March 2015 release, Windfall.
