[PREVIEW] Music of The St. Louis Murmuration Festival

This year, St. Louis will play host to a festival unlike any the city has ever experienced.

The inaugural Murmuration takes place on September 23rd through the 25th, and will feature speakers, presenters, performers, and vendors celebrating tech, music, art, and science! Murmuration will be a hearty yet accessible homegrown festival that aims to highlight the most thoughtful and inventive members of our local and national creative communities.

Those of us who work on IWTAS make it out of the house now and then to attend live musical performances, which should be abundantly clear by now. So, STL concert fans, what are we to expect from Murmuration’s show-going offerings? The answer in two words: Experimentation and Innovation.

bands

Topping the festival’s music lineup is Flying Lotus, the LA renaissance man who has blazed trails as a producer, DJ, rapper, and electronic musician. You can catch Flying Lotus on Saturday night starting at 8:30. We’ll see you there.

Sunday star vibes will be delivered courtesy of Tycho at 8:30. Scott Hansen, aka Tycho, has a design style just as smooth and atmospheric as his music, making him a perfect fit for Murmuration.

Deerhoof‘s avant garde rock will delight the senses at 7:00 on Sunday. Expect tracks from the band’s 2016 release, The Magic.

Also on Murmuration’s first musical lineup up? A strong local one-two punch from ICE fka Black James and Yowie. The former is a mind-melting experimental hip hop project by artist/architect/musician Jennifer McDaniel. The latter are the Skin Graft Records artists working on their third riff-heavy record.
