[show_avatar email=jess@iwenttoashow.com align=left avatar_size=62] Last time punk-infused country rockers Lucero were in town, they labored through late-August St. Louis heat and humidity at LouFest, ending a cut-short set with singer/guitarist Ben Nichols flat out behind the drum kit receiving intravenous fluids from a nurse.

Lucero’s abbreviated performance this summer seemed to do nothing but make St. Louis anxious for the rousing, rough live show that long-time Lucero fans have come to expect. Next Tuesday, the band will descend upon Off Broadway for a concert that is likely to sell out, just like it did last time they played the venue. I’ve yet to see Lucero at OB, but I imagine that Nichols’ weathered growl will be especially affecting on a cold winter weeknight in that warm, friendly room.

Local favorites John Henry and the Engine are slated to open the evening, just days before heading to Nashville to do some recording (P.S. We’ll be giving away tickets to John’s December 10th  headlining show at Cicero’s – more on that later).
