#STLSOTD: Wednesday, May 21st – Golden Curls’ “Warm Fiction”

#STLSOTD is an I Went to a Show.com Monday-Friday feature that introduces followers to St. Louis music by spotlighting one track by one artist or band from IWTAS’ Bandcamp Directory of St. Louis Music.  As always, we welcome your suggestions. If we pick the song you share with us on TwitterFacebook, or in the comments section of this post, we’ll make sure to give you a shout out.

GOLDENCURLS

It’s rare that you’re sitting at your kitchen table in front of your Internet machine streaming a song, and the noise coming through its little speakers makes you feel like you’re lounging in a goddamn field of beautiful wildflowers and possibly tiny animals or non-biting insects. But here we are, and here we have Golden Curls, whose music incites just that type of imagery. The self-described “woozy pop” duo from our fair city crafts textured, ambient songs guaranteed to smooth this hump day right over for y’all.

Today’s STLSOTD is “Warm Fiction”, from Golden Curls’ 2012 EP of the same name, available on their Bandcamp for a price of your choosing. The track is a veritable Calgon bath of aural elegance and relaxation. Take us away, GC:

Golden Curls is Sarah Downen and Noah Blackwell. The band performs tomorrow at Plush along with Beach Weather (Mobile, AL), Edward Appleby (Mobile, AL), and Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden (Nashville). The concert’s hosted by our legit friends at Speakers in Code, who know a good thing when they hear it.
